This is a personal painting. I wanted to try and capture a scene that had some kind of dappled light scenario.
So i tried to use some darker and cool foreground elements, and push the atmosphere a little adding some slightly warmer elements like the mid ground red scattering of flowers.
the key to this one was the composition for me, so attempted to use the bridge railing as a visual lead for the eye.
Hopefully its ambiguous in a subtle way, is she waiting for him or waiting in ambush. Added the sword behind her to suggest she is not all hugs and kisses.
Contemplated showing her hand reaching for the sword, but decided not to spoon feed the viewer.
